Camping in Style

Hi everyone,

Trailer hitched to truck - check
Food and dishes packed - check
Clothes and sleeping bags stowed away - check
Rain and wind staying away for the weekend - not so much

We took our tent trailer out for the first time this weekend and had a blast! Who knew that when it rains in our state when camping it is so much better to be in a trailer with heat, warm water, a fridge, oven, range, microwave, and a potty. Well, I guess we did but we've always weathered through the storm (literally and figuratively) until now.

Grandma and Molly came along for the trip and boy am I glad they did. It took Mom and Dad forever to break everything down and if Grandma hadn't been there to keep me busy and watch me who knows what kind of mischief I would have gotten myself into.

The only negatives were that the battery ran out on the portable DVD player about 20 minutes before the end of Lightning McQueen (boohoo, I know) and our campsite was surrounded by lilac trees which Mom is incredibly allergic too. I guess we won't be going back to that state park!

Family Visits

Hi everyone,

A few weeks ago I got to meet my Grandpa Leland (Daddy's daddy) for the first time ever! I couldn't decide what I was more excited about, meeting Grandpa or discovering that he was delivering a camp trailer that we bought. I think I decided that meeting him was better, but I was so excited about seeing that camp trailer. I kept asking him to take it off his truck so he could leave it here.


I had a two for one weekend getting to visit with Daddy's family. None of them live in our state anymore but Uncle Greg and Aunt Shireen came to visit for a few days too. I was told that I met them already when I was about 10 months old, but I didn't remember that.


I'll have to post some pictures of my new camp trailer after this weekend. We are going on our first camping trip with it over the holiday weekend. It's a good thing too because our forecast says that it is supposed to rain all three days!

Lazy Summer Days

Hi everyone,

The days have been warm and sunny and the mornings have been crisp and bright. It feels like it is already moving into fall and we aren't even out of August yet! We've spent some lazy days feeding the ducks, walking the dog, and playing at the park. Ahhhhh, I love the relaxing feel of long summer days.

Weekend Happenings

Hi everyone,

For the last month mommy and I have been hanging out alone on the weekends because daddy has had to work seven days straight through each week. Ugh for daddy, but at least we got to have some fun!

Last weekend we went to a car and yacht show in one of our neighboring towns. After checking out the sweet rides we headed over to a local market to have some lunch. Woo hoo to having a corn dog and french fries for lunch. Nummy, nummy! And for a special treat mommy let me pick the flavor of the ice cream cone that we got to share. Even though I'm still not doing much of any dairy, I slurped down as much of that bubble gum cone as I could get my little tongue on!


I also finished my very first summer reading program through our city library. I love reading, but to get prizes for reading books that I would have read anyway, now you're talkin'!

Cookie Monster

Hi everyone,

We had a rainy, gray morning yesterday so we decided to stay in and bake sugar cookies! It's been a long time since we've baked cookies. Mommy bought me a new train cookie cutter a few days ago and I've been chomping at the bit to try it out. The hardest part was making up the dough and then letting it sit in the fridge for a few hours. At least most of the wait was during my nap time!

Here I am carefully rolling out the dough. We only had one casualty where I fell off the step stool sideways and the rolling pin and I ended up crashing to the floor. After a few tears I popped right back up and got to rolling again.

Ta da. Are they cool enough yet? Are they cool enough yet? Are they cool enough yet? That is not even close to how many times I asked that question.

Mmm, mmm, good! Sorry I already have some in my mouth in this picture but they were so good I couldn't even wait to take another bite before I finished chewing the first one.

Fancy Pants

Hi everyone,

Yes sir, you saw right, no diapers for me! For three weeks now I have been going potty in the toilet and and wearing underpants!

I think it was rough those first few days for Mommy. There was so much freedom in running around without clothes and I think I felt a little too free. We had a few potty incidents outside the bathroom but at least it was usually on the linoleum so it was easier to clean up. But by day 3 everything was under control and I haven't looked back since. It was like I was born to do this!

Final Installment

Hi everyone,

I'm sure you'll be pleased that this is the final installment of our Canadian Adventures series. Really, this was the big trip of our summer so I guess it is only fitting that it took up many weeks of postings in order to share with you all the happenings. What will we post about for the rest of the summer? I guess you'll have to wait and see.

This was my idea of hiking! Either walking on the wall, running up the hills, or riding on Mom and Dad's shoulders or back. I think I had the easiest job there but you sure wouldn't know it from how tired I was.

Beautiful shot of Lake Louise! I don't know if you can see the rain coming down. We had sunny skies and dry ground all week until it came to the last day and the morning to pack up. Thank goodness most of the rain happened when we were in the truck driving back from Calgary or in the tent sleeping.
