Welcome to the Jungle

Hi everyone,

Creepy crawly vines, hairy gorillas, lions stalking their prey; they were all a part of our preschool theme this week. Okay, we may not have gone scary but we did get to learn about a few plants in the jungle and some animals too. This week we focused on the letter B, the number 2, the color green, and our square shape from last week. We also got to go on another field trip!

Way back this past summer when I finished my summer reading challenge I earned a free ticket to Jungle Playland. Mom has been waiting for a chance to use it since I turned three many months ago and this was the day. I had a lot of fun and actually went into the ball pit and down the slides by myself. I think mom is enjoying this independent play from me because in the past I have wanted her to climb all over the toys and slide down with me. It sure is fun growing up!

My First Official Field Trip

Hi everyone,

I went on my first official field trip to a cattle farm in honor of our weekly learning theme. Wahoo! Mud, muck, and manure. It's too bad our weekly letter was A instead of M, otherwise I could have had some great alliteration.


I happened to learn through the grapevine that my babysitter's family owns cattle and their cows have had 11, yes a whopping 11, calves since the first of the year! We were able to go out to their farm to see the cows and bottle feed one of the calves. We also got to go out into the field to see them tag the ear of the newest calf. That momma cow definitely wanted us away from her baby, but we managed to get the job done and get in a little calf petting while staying safe the whole time. And a visit to a farm would not be complete without a tractor ride.

Cows Go Moo and then they Poo!

Hi everyone,

Even though my home preschool officially started a few months ago, this was the first week that we started doing a learning theme. Can you guess what our theme was from the title of this post? Moooooooooo. That's right, cows.

We read books about cows, learned about calves, made playdough and cookies that were shaped like cows, and we even had grilled cheese sandwiches and string cheese to celebrate dairy cows. We also learned our shape of the week which I'm sure you can figure out was a square. Our letter of the week was A and our number was 1.


The big news is that I finally was able to get a few short videos that I can post to my blog. Yahoo! Mom was trying to capture me saying, "Hooray for dairy farming" every time I would put a cookie on the cookie sheet but wouldn't you know that I stopped saying it as soon as she picked up the camera. Go figure.

Skiing? Skating?

Hi everyone,

We were able to get over to the roller skating rink again. It had been so long I started calling it skiing instead of skating. It is a gliding motion, right, so I wasn't too far off. I was a bit more tentative this time out, but by my third time around the rink I looked much more comfortable on my skates. I even did the hokey pokey and the limbo!

Blog Fodder

Hi everyone,

What can I say except that it has been busy around here. Between working on Dad's resumes and the "boringness" of this time of year my posts have become few and far between. Mom and I are beginning a new preschool type program so hopefully between that and the weather getting nicer I will have some blog fodder. Until then here are a few more random pics.

Weekend Away

Hi everyone,

Do you think it's coincidental that the first weekend in March, both last year and this year, is the only time that I have ever stayed overnight anywhere without Mom and Dad? I know that last year Mom secreted Dad away on a special trip for his 40th birthday and I stayed at Grandma's, but come on, I'm going to start to take offense if this happens every year.

Before we headed down I had my appointment with the allergist. Don't you love all the numbers on my back? Thankfully the only thing that had a reaction was the histamine which was supposed to cause a reaction. I didn't have any allergies detected by the skin test. The doctor did say there is still potential for me to have allergies, but I am possibly too young to have it register in a skin test and he really didn't want to do a blood test at this point. And by the way, tell my mom to let me out in the sun some, will ya.

After my appointment, Dad went off to work and Mom and I headed down to meet Grandma for lunch. I didn't even know I was going to Grandma's until Dad left because Mom even kept it a secret from me. I guess she didn't want me blurting it out and ruining her surprise. While at Grandma's we bought some new hot wheel cars to play with and then she took my cousin and me to a car museum. We saw a lot of neat vehicles, but of course I had to get pictures in front of the ambulance and fire truck.

Before we left for the car museum Grandma told me to put some cars on the table so that we wouldn't forget to take them along. When she came out she chuckled at the fact that I had found various pockets in her purse to stash the cars instead of just setting them on the table. I didn't want them to get left behind in our haste to leave.

After the museum, my cousin came back to Grandma's and while Grandma made his favorite meal for dinner (I got to pick the night before), he built a garage for me out of lincoln logs so I could park my cars and trucks somewhere. What do you think about the stellar parking job? I think I may have learned from Mom's mistake last month.

Randomness

Hi everyone,

I was looking through my February photo folder and realized I hadn't posted a few photos so I thought I'd take care of that since we are now into March. Yikes, March already! Plus, we really haven't had much new going on around here. I'm still trying to get a short video of me doing some preschool stuff, but the key is short and that seems to be the hard part.
