When we were on the west side down by the lava flow we also had the chance to walk to a black sand beach that is currently under construction. What I mean by being under construction is that the old beach was covered over with lava and now the waves are breaking down the hardened lava so that is creates a new beach. It was pretty tumultuous water so I wouldn't want to be out swimming in it, and I couldn't believe how loud it was with the rocks all rubbing together as the waves were pulled out to sea. It sure was beautiful, though, and a great example of the power of the earth's elements. God really is amazing when we stop to look at all he has created and how!
