Christmas Morning

Hi everyone,

Christmas morning has come and gone. The sense of time is still something I am trying to wrap my brain around. Just this morning I asked mom if Christmas was over, and if her half birthday was over, and if it was Saturday, and why did we get presents, and . . . the list goes on and on of my never ending questions that stem from a healthy amount of curiosity. I guess some things you just have to wait to understand. Anyway . . .

I'm not sure if the dog is more interested in the new mini gumball machine I am unwrapping or my half eaten piece of chocolate peanut banana bread. What do you think?

Ahhhh, my initiation into Dad's world of strange gifts with impossible wrapping. I still don't know who drank all of my gatorade. I got one tiny sip and then I never saw it again.
How many of you were once three years old? Oh really, that many of you. Okay then, you will know exactly what I am talking about when I tell you how difficult it is not play with the toy immediately upon opening it. Why do I have to set it to the side for others to unwrap their gifts and to wait for my next turn? Well, I decided it was time to change the program so as soon as I unwrapped my new outfit from Grandma I started stripping down so they could not ignore the fact that I wanted to enjoy my gift right then. I showed them!
After a little afternoon nap it was time for a quick photo shoot. Don't mind the cut over my left eyelid. Mom and I were playing a matador and bull and I guess the bull lost. Bulls should look where they are going and not run into the corners of antique sewing cupboards with their faces, but they tend to be a bit bull-headed so I don't know if I'll convince them of that any time soon.
Until next time . . .

Christmas Eve

Hi everyone,

Christmas Eve festivities were a blast! Grandpa and Nana came up to visit. It was great waking up from my nap to find them already here.

We watched Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas. Now I know who Grandpa sounds like when he talks like Donald Duck!

We finally took the top off the pool table. One, I can't believe that in all my three years mom and dad have never taken the top off the pool table while I've been awake. Hmmm, I'm not sure in those three years they've taken the top off at all. Second, I kept asking if there were going to be fish under there. Tricky thing, that English language.

I guess pool is not for me because after trying my hand at it I just decided to go get my transporter truck and drive it around the edge of the table. Oh, and for those who have never been to our house let me tell you that the pool table is in our unfinished basement and it shares space with an entire classroom that is housed down there since mom has not been teaching. Okay, now that I've explained the clutter, do you feel better mom?

Cookies for Santa

Hi everyone,

Our little family tries not to put a big emphasis on Santa since we really celebrate Jesus' birth as the true celebration of Christmas, but everyone likes an excuse to make cookies, right?

I know that was A LOT of pictures of me making cookies but I wanted you to see that I helped out in all the steps of our process. Take a close look at the last three. I worked so hard to get that snowman over to the cookie sheet all by myself and he wanted to get warm so bad that he just jumped right off my spatula!

Until next time . . .

December in a Nutshell

Hi everyone,

I was looking through my pictures and realized I hadn't posted about a few of my happenings in December so I thought I'd catch you all up before we got to Christmas Day.

Conversing with Santa.

Feeling good about our conversation!

Playing with the nativity scene.

Getting ready for a game of Hi-Ho Cherry-O.
How do you like my rainboots and pajama bottoms?
How about the way that I am sitting?

I smoked mom in Candy Land!
I kept pulling double after double after double.
Until next time . . .

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree

Hi everyone,

It's already December 18th and I'm just getting around to posting my first Christmas pictures. I don't think I'm alone in getting behind on my to do list because Mom is just getting Christmas cards mailed out and she usually has this done by the first week in December. Here are some pictures of the Christmas tree to tide you over until I get the other pictures rolling along. And if the lights on the tree look sparse to you, it's because Mom and Dad have had the same tree lights for 15 years and out of 4 strings only one works all the way and the other 3 have half the string working. I guess it's time to shell out a few dollars to buy a few more strings!

Until next time . . .

Clean Bill of Health

Hi everyone,

The pediatrician gave me a clean bill of health this past week. My current stats are: 39 1/2 inches tall (95th percentile) and 35 pounds (75th percentile), so that makes my overall bmi at the 50th percentile which is where he says I need to be. My weight has finally caught up with my height so I heard mom and dad talking about now watching how many Costco hot dogs I eat. What, no one said I couldn't have a hot dog every now and then!

And not to brag or anything, but the doctor also commented on how smart I was. He was impressed that I was able to do all the things he asked and I also knew all the pictures in the game we played to check my eyes. The only thing I didn't do so hot at was the hearing test but he said for 3 year olds they really just want to get us used to having the headphones on. We also decided that I am going to see an allergist for this "dairy thing" to see if once and for all I am allergic to dairy, and I am also going to see a pediatric urologist but I won't go into that.

Until next time . . .

Three Candles, Please

Hi everyone,

Guess who had his third birthday? Yep, you guessed right, it was me! We had quite a busy week so I'm going to publish a few posts to get you all caught up. This seems to be a busy time of year for us as we go from fall through Thanksgiving into Christmas decorating then my birthday and Christmas and finally the new year. Whew, hold on tight while I try to catch you up!

Before

During

After
(I was just itching to use the heavy machinery so I started in right
away with my scraper. Fortunately the only casualty was my icing!)
Getting ready to decorate gingerbread houses. . .

Eating the candy and filling up my tummy before dinner!

Check out the next post for adventures I had on my actual birthday!

Riding the Rails

Hi everyone,

Mommy and I took the train down to the big city where Dad works. It's a good thing our schedule was flexible because the train was almost an hour behind schedule. At least we got to wait in a nice warm building and we visited with a few other passengers while we waited. For the trip home we got to ride Dad's commuter bus with him. Good thing that was on time because I had a long day! Read the next post for what happened in between the train and bus rides.

The adventure continues . . .

Exploration at its Finest

We spent the rest of the day at the children's museum. It was our first visit to this particular museum and it was well worth the trip. My favorite part was the intricately designed railroad as evidenced by the fact that I spent most of my time there and requested it be the last place we visited before leaving.

Until next time . . .

Deep Conversations

Hi everyone,

I have been having some deep conversations lately. I think that with Christmas coming and learning new things at Bible study my little brain is ripe for asking questions and thinking deep thoughts.

Setting the Scene:
Mommy and I had just finished eating dinner (Daddy worked late) where we also read our first day of the Jesse Advent Tree Devotions. I was sitting in Mommy's lap on the kitchen floor having just read my book "Jesus is Born".

Me: "Is heaven scary?"

Mommy: "No. Heaven is a good place. It's where God lives. It's where we'll get to see God and worship him and we'll see Jesus and there will be no more tears or pain or sadness. It's definitely a good place."

Me: "I want to go to heaven."

Mommy: "Well, honey, the only way you can get to heaven is if you have asked Jesus into your heart and have asked him to forgive you of your sins. "

Me: "I want to go to heaven."

Mommy: "You have to ask Jesus into your heart and ask him to forgive you of the bad things you have done. Mommy has asked Jesus into her heart, and Daddy, and Grandpa and Nana and Grandma and lots of other people we know. We asked Jesus into our hearts and then we asked him to forgive us of the bad things that we've done. Would you like to ask Jesus into your heart?"

Me: "Yes, I want to ask Jesus into my heart."

Mommy: "Okay. Why don't you pray with me and we'll ask Jesus to come into your heart."

(Then we prayed a short prayer asking him into my heart and asking him to forgive me of my sins and to help me live like him.)

Me: "I want to go to heaven now."

Mommy: "No, it's not time for you to go to heaven. Mommy and Daddy want you to stay around a lot longer. We like having you in our family. You go to heaven when God is ready to take you to heaven."

Me: "Is heaven far away?"

Mommy: "Yes, heaven is very far away."

Me: "But I want to go to heaven."

Mommy: "I know, honey, but it's not time for you to go. You can't go to heaven until it's time for you to go. God will come get you when it is time for you to go to heaven."

Me: "Will he come in a car?"

Mommy: "I don't know, I've never been to heaven."

Me: "Maybe a car or a truck."

Until next time . . .
