Perching on the Porch

Hi everyone,

I was so excited to decorate our porch this year! Our weekly letter for preschool was H and so we talked all about harvests. We went to an apple orchard (I'll have to save that for another post) and to the pumpkin patch and decorated our porch. Mom was super excited this year too because we used the corn from our very own garden! I think she was pretty disappointed that we didn't get any pumpkins and because we were trying to watch our funds we didn't get as many gourds as we usually do. It still looks cute though, I think.

Until next time . . .

Perusal at the Pumpkin Patch: Part 2

Hi everyone,

I suddenly realized while creating my last post that I have a lot of pictures of the pumpkin patch, so I decided to break them into two parts.

Dad with his pick . . .

Gettin' ready for my tractor train ride . . .

Goin' for a wheelbarrow ride . . .

Catching balloons in a blow-up pumpkin . . .

Perusal at the Pumpkin Patch

Hi everyone,

I had a great time picking out my pumpkin this year! We headed over after church and it was a fairly warm afternoon. You'll notice I'm in short sleeves and sandals which is typically not pumpkin picking weather around this area. I zoomed all over the patch trying to pick the perfect pumpkin. I picked up many, changed my mind a number of times, and finally saw the perfect one. Pumpkin picking was followed by a tractor ride around the farm, always a pleasure for me!

Contemplating all my choices . . .

 One of many picks . . .

Taking a break . . .

This is the one . . . oh, maybe not . . .
Excited to keep looking and find the perfect one . . .
(notice my feet are not on the ground)

Ahhhh, I finally found it! And these are all variations of Mom and Dad
asking me to give a nice smile while looking at the camera before I give up and run off.

Annual Pumpkin Photo

Hi everyone,

See, I told you it wouldn't be too long before I got a pumpkin post up! Looking back over the last four years it is fun to see how much I have grown and changed. Yikes, pretty soon I'll be old like Dad (at least that's what I keep telling him when I refer to things that are old or getting old).

I don't want to inundate you with photos, so I'll wait until my next post to show you the fun we had at the pumpkin patch.

Until next time . . .

A Bit of Randomness

Hi everyone,

I can't believe it's been almost two weeks since I posted. It has been super busy these last few weeks with Mom subbing and Dad doing my preschool and all the other stuff at home. It sure has been an interesting transition from Dad working to now Mom getting back into the classroom some. I do enjoy dropping her off and picking her up at school though, and I even got to go in a kindergarten classroom she was subbing in just to check it out.

I was looking through my photo folders and realized I have just a few photos I wasn't able to post before I move into October ones. Stay tuned though because I'm going to be posting some of our pumpkin patch and porch pictures before you know it. Hey, alliteration (did you notice all the p's that started my words?)!

Helping mom make some sugar cookies for MOPS.
Look at that concentration, I even had my tongue out for a while!

Getting WAY too big to sit on the entertainment center!

Going through a phase where I turn everything into a boat. I managed to get a hold of my bicycle seat while Dad was working on my bike, and upside down it makes a great ferry for cars!

Until next time . . . (and I promise you won't have to wait but a few days for my pumpkin pics)

Camping at Fort Casey

Hi everyone,

Finally, finally, finally we went camping at Fort Casey! Way back in the Spring when mom and I went to the lighthouse and the fort for a field trip I had mentioned that I wanted to camp there, and I probably mentioned it every week or two throughout the summer. This time dad and I toured the lighthouse while mom was relegated to watching the dog on the grassy knoll across the way. She was able to capture a picture of us in front of and inside the lighthouse tower, though. There we are waving to her!

Our camping trips to the island also seem to mark a tradition of going to the drive-in movie theater. Mom told me that I have actually gone to the drive in for 4 years in a row, however I don't seem to remember any of these trips except this last one. Oh, I know why. The first year I wasn't born yet, a few months away from that date actually, the second year I stayed home with grandma, the third year I stayed at the camping trailer with grandma. Hmm, I think mom had it wrong. That would be 4 years that THEY have been going to the drive-in, not me. Needless to say, I was totally excited about it this year. Not only did I get to stay up WAY past my bedtime, but I also got to see a few movies I don't know if I would have been able to watch if I was at home. Usually it's a G-rated movie for me, but they were showing Despicable Me and Toy Story 3 which were both PG. I was all for us staying for the whole triple feature but by the time it was midnight and I hadn't even shut an eyelid mom and dad decided that I didn't need to see Iron Man 2 which meant they didn't get to see it either. I really don't think they would have let me watch it, but they were hoping I would have konked out sometime during Toy Story 3 so they could stay and watch.

Out of all the things at the snack bar, I picked a giant soft pretzel. Oh, and I had some of mom's licorice too!

Until next time . . .

It's Only Fair

Hi everyone,

We only went to one fair this summer, can you believe that? I think last year we went to about 4 or 5, and this year only one. Oh well, I guess we can always try next year.

We saw quite a few animals, the draft horse pull, a horse show, ate lots of greasy fair food, and I finally got to go on my first carnival ride! I was also allowed to eat poffertjes (sounds like pof-fridges) for the first time. Maybe "allowed" is a strong word, but I don't recall eating these in the past and I have a sneaking suspicion that Dad may have kept them all to himself. Boy, does he love those poffertjes!

Until next time . . .
