Pumpkins over the Years

Hi everyone,

Who can believe that I was ever that small? Not me.

Pumpkin Patch

Hi everyone,

Lo and behold, the annual pumpkin patch picture.Mom said I should show you all of my pumpkin patch pictures over the years so I'll do that in a couple of days, but for now this will have to suffice.

Pumpkin patch pictures provided presently (can you tell Mom's class is studying alliteration and she's been teaching me too) . . . and warning, it's going to be picut

Checking out the sunflowers!

Looking longingly at the tractor train. Not an option this year. Ho hum.

Just a cute pic!

I've found it! The perfect one!

Carefully placing it in the wheelbarrow.

Trying to drive it myself not realizing that it is much too heavy and off balance. Uh oh, pumpkins will soon be rolling around on the ground.

Choosing another pumpkin since mine got a bit bumped.

Dad carrying mom's huge pumpkin (for the second time).

Gotta go for the wheelbarrow ride when I get the chance!

Until next time . . .

Harvest Time

Hi everyone,

It's that time of year again! Woohoo, we love fall! And what is great about this year is that almost all of the decorations on our porch (the living ones that is) came from our garden. We went to the pumpkin patch to get our big pumpkins (which I'll post about another day), but the corn, squash, mini pumpkins, and green pumpkins all came from our very own backyard. Isn't working the earth great? Not only do you get food to eat, but you get decor for your house!

Until next time when we visit the pumpkin patch . . .

Afternoon Tea

Hi everyone,

Are your tea cups and pinkie fingers ready? Right after finishing the marathon Mom and Dad headed over to the Empress Hotel for afternoon tea. Well, Mom did change out of her running clothes and shower first, so I guess it wasn't right over. One of those great self-portraits! Does Mom look a little tired to you? I think at this point she was ready for a nap but this was the last tea time of the day so it was this or nothing.

Dad snapped a few pictures of the inside of the hotel. It used to be the lobby but now it is the tea room. While it looks pretty snazzy I'm glad that they did this on a trip that I didn't accompany them on. The food looks a bit out of my element.

Dining with the queen and duke!

What a magnificent view!

The last great thing about their trip is that they stayed in the honeymoon suite of their bed and breakfast. Jacuzzi tub, king size bed with goose down comforter, sitting room, television, free wi-fi access . . . all the essentials to enjoy a weekend a way.

Until next time . . .

Marathon Madness

Hi everyone,

Time sure does seem to fly. Here I thought I'd get right back to getting another post up about Mom and Dad's trip to Victoria and here it is a week later and I'm just getting back to it. Eeek!

The traditional "before" picture . . .

About 7 miles in - Mom is realizing that she is going to be in trouble if her knees are already starting to hurt. Only 19 more miles to go! But what a great house in the background! And it's for sale. Any takers?

Getting close to halfway and in the zone . . .

Out of the zone and a feeble attempt to jokingly show that Mom is dog tired.

Gorgeous Sunday afternoon . . .

for a stroll! Yep, that's what it turned into it. Those poor knees just couldn't take it anymore. How can you argue with those views though!

And Mom managing to muscle up and run the last kilometer so she could come in running.
Don't pay attention to the time clock at the top of the picture. It must have been broken or something. Er, no, I guess that is really the time Mom ended up coming in at. No records broken (except the record for her latest finish to date) but at least she finished, right. That's what everyone keeps telling her at least.

I promise I'll post much quicker for the next one and take you to afternoon tea. Get your teacups and pinky fingers ready.
Until next time . . .

Weekend Away

Hi everyone,

Mom and Dad spent last weekend tucked away on an island all by themselves. Well, I guess they weren't really on an island all by themselves, but they were there without me which says a whole lot. It was a late celebration of their anniversary as well as mom's date to run her marathon. It sounds like they had a pretty good time, minus the super sore knees and terrible finish time. I spent the weekend with Grandma and had a lot of fun.

Saying good-bye!

Some of the views from the ferry ride.

Once they landed, they had a bit of time to walk around the city and grab a bite of lunch before checking into the B&B and going out for a carb load dinner.

Not the B&B!

And the after dinner view . . .

I'll tell you about Mom's marathon in my next post. I'm sure she would rather I didn't, but too bad for her because I am going to anyway.

Until next time . . .

Valley Farm Tour

Hi everyone,

Every year around this time many of our local farms open up their businesses and welcome us in to show us what they do. We have a few farms that we like to visit every year (even though they always have the same stuff), and then we also try to throw in a new one or one we haven't been to in a few years. This time it was tough because we had to squeeze the visits in around a birthday party, church, and a very busy weekend. Even with all that, we managed to sneak in a hay ride, some cow milking and petting, some eating, some alpaca petting, some crab buying, and some tractor riding. Whew! That makes me tired just typing it all out.

Here it is in picture form:

You can call me the "cow whisperer".

Awwwww, what a cute little itty-bitty baby cow.

Run away cow and little boy blue!

Perfect milking form - feet flat and close together, knees bent, back straight, arms straight, head tucked into udder.

Family tractor ride!

Hopping onto the tractor . . .

Shifting into gear . . .

Whoa, Nelly! (This is one of mom's favorite pictures!)

Until next time . . .
