Old Dog (well, not that old), New Tricks

Hi everyone,

Mommy bought me a new step stool just so I can crawl up on the counter. What, Mommy, that wasn't why you bought it for me . . . you got it so I could reach the counter, watch you make food, and get to the sink to wash my hands. Well, that's no fun, I like my use better. Now everyone has seen my new trick so it's no big secret of how talented I am at climbing!

I also thought I'd include a picture of me sleeping. I know, I know. You are probably wondering how I managed to snap a picture while I was sleeping, especially in such an awkward position. It was actually Mommy who took it (I know because Daddy is gone right now) and the bright flash didn't even wake me up.

Sweet dreams, until next time . . .

Little Helper

Hi everyone,

Don't I look like a little helper watering mom's flowers? Little does she know that the watering can actually has rocks in it that I selected handful by handful out of the parking area. Look at the concentration evident on my face while I'm carefully watering that begonia!

My lip has started healing nicely. The swelling went down within a day or two and the big scab fell off the outside of my lip. You can still see a little on the outside but it is mostly the inside that has to heal now.

I hope you are finding ways to beat the heat like I am. Until next time . . .

Chicks Dig Scars

Hi everyone,

Well, as you can see I got a little bit of an owie yesterday which resulted in a visit to the emergency room for only the second time in my life. I was playing outside with Daddy and while I was walking down the driveway I did a lovely pirouette (inspired by the Olympics) and promptly did a faceplant on the driveway. There was a lot of blood, skin, and crying but I finally calmed down and was able to get a good nights sleep. The medical field game of "round the circle" began the next morning when Mommy called the pediatrician to ask if there was anything she could put on my lip to help it heal faster, they told her to take me to urgent care, urgent care asked if I had a referral, the pediatrician's office decided instead of a referral to urgent care I should just go to the emergency room in case I needed stitches, the emergency room doctor said it was too late for stitches (but if I had come in yesterday I would have gotten a few) and told Mommy to call the pediatrician to see if there was anything she could put on my lip, and here we are back at the beginning of where it all started with Mommy calling the pediatrician's office in the first place. It was a very long and unproductive edition of "round the circle". It sounds like the swelling in my lip should go down within a few days, in a few weeks the wound should close up, and I may have to have the flap of skin trimmed down when it is completely healed. Meanwhile, I have been introduced to a fun game of blowing bubbles in warm salt water to try to keep infection at bay and learning how to talk and eat with an extremely fat lip.

Until next time . . .

Dog Days of Summer

Hi everyone,

I have been having so much fun this summer. Mommy and I have been riding bikes, jogging, walking, playing in the backyard, playing at parks, visiting people, and too many more things to name. We went to a waterfront festival a few weeks ago and then to a park where they have a new playground. It was soooo neat. Of course, I mostly wanted to play on the old toys once I discovered that there was a bridge there that was just my size. These pictures are from that visit. The best thing about the summer is that my Daddy finally came back home last week after being gone for 34 days straight. That was a long time! Unfortunately he is leaving again for who knows how long so I need to skedaddle so I can catch up on my play time with him.

Until next time . . .

Bargains, Bargains, Bargains

Hi everyone,

I know that I have posted my last few entries within just a few days of each other but with Daddy gone I find that I have a lot of free time on my hands. Yesterday Mommy and I were biking some paperwork over to this older lady who I do not know when we rode past a garage sale. Well, many of you know that Mommy doesn't often stop at garage sales but she happened to see a small basketball hoop and decided to turn around and check it out. It turned out that we scored big in the bargain department. By the time we got there everything was half off and I couldn't believe the fun toys that no one had snatched up yet. Along with all the little people toys that you can see me playing with that night, we also got a kid basketball hoop, a little bbq for camping, a potty chair, Christmas plates, a harvest pumpkin decoration, and a video. Whew, let me catch my breath after telling you all that to say that we only paid a grand total of $9.50! I think now we'll keep our eyes peeled more often. I'm off to say hi to my little people.

Until next time . . .
