The Ultimate Car Show

Hi everyone,

Okay, so now I found a few pictures from just a month ago so I'm getting even closer to current day and wrapping up all my old stuff.

Back during tulip time we headed out for the open house of PACCAR. Our neighbor used to work there and retired a few years ago so it was exciting to see where he used to work. We walked through to see where they do the testing of the truck parts, we were able to climb into a few different truck cabs to see what it would feel like to be a big rig driver, and we got to see a car show while we were there.

Later that afternoon when we came home I decided to design my own car show. I used my hotwheels to create the roads and then I drove each vehicle out to the lot for the car show. Here's the view of the whole production taking up the floor space of the living and dining rooms.

Here is a close up of the actual show of all the big rigs and showcase vehicles. Notice the dog standing there. When I do these types of set ups she doesn't always know where she can and can't walk. Talk about extra anxiety for a dog!

Here's a view from the other side. I wanted you to see the cars that go to the left of the dining table and over toward the hallway. When I do something, I do it BIG!

Oh, one last picture. Mom has been trying to upload this a few different times as the picture on the left side of my blog but it doesn't want to work. So I guess you'll just have to see it here. What a poser, I am! Seriously, wait until a few posts later and you can really see it then.

Until next time . . .

Two Months Ago

Hi everyone,

Mom was looking through my pictures and realized that I never posted these from a few months ago. Not sure why. They must have gotten stuck in the wrong folder on the computer or something. I mean, come on, it's not so easy for a 5 year old to navigate around the computer so they should really make sure stuff is organized and clearly marked. Right?

Adventuring at REI. We went down to look at sleeping pad covers so Dad would know what he wanted to order with his coupon. I played around and acted like a monkey on the cable ropes.

Then I discovered that they have a new kids play area. It is super cool with a huge tree house with slides and nets and tunnels! They also had a toy tent to crawl in and over and a kayak. I was pretty excited to see this new area and to play in it while Mom continued her never ending quest for a decently priced decent quality pair of kids shoes for me.

This is just one more of my creations. I am constantly designing and building creations out of my blocks, tracks, and other building toys. Future architect? Future engineer? Who knows?

Or maybe a future artist? This is me standing in front of a portrait I drew. Not sure why there are five people. I guess it wasn't a portrait of our family. I was pretty proud though. Now I'm really into drawing and I have moved on to boats and planes. One of these days I'll have to show you those.

Same portrait but I added a train track down in between the third and fourth person if you are counting from the left. Do you see it there, all twisty? Mom thought it was a remote control (not sure why I'd draw one of those though since I've never really seen one).

Until next time . . .

Fishing Derby

Hi everyone,

Ahhhhhh, the collective sigh now that we can move on from our Spring break vacation and onto more current things. Or maybe I should say somewhat current.

At the beginning of May, right before we headed out for Vancouver for Mom's half marathon, we went over to the local pond for a kids fishing derby. I was super excited to get to try out my new fishing pole and I wasn't even ruffled by the fact that it was raining. We all threw on our raincoats and headed out. Hindsight being what it is we should have totally thrown on our rainboots too! It was so mucky that a little girl slipped and got covered from head to toe in mud, and all she was trying to do was get to the prize tent to claim her raffle prize.

We tried scoping out a spot around the lake. All, and I mean ALL, of the spots that had something resembling a patch of land right next to the lake were snatched up already. And not just by kids either. I mean, it's only a KIDS fishing derby, but you had parents standing there that wouldn't budge an inch. Not even for a cute, little 5 year old who just wants to catch his first fish. So we had to go way over to the far end of the lake where there were reeds and marshes. Not the best place for fish. While Dad figured out a spot where I could stand on a log or something so I wasn't in the water I impatiently danced around and Mom stood further up on the grassy bank, freezing and snapping pictures.

Finally, I was able to cast in my line. Oops, there goes the power bait in the water. Second cast. Oops, there goes the power bait in the water. Third cast. Oops, there goes the power bait in the water. I guess I'll need to get the power bait that looks like marshmallows and not just the goop that you stick on your hook. That and I've realized that I need a weight to pull the hook down into the water. That would be helpful.

We stood there for about 5 or 10 minutes, decided that it really was a bust and that we could come back another time when it wasn't so crowded. We did spot some beautiful eggs in a nest down in the reeds. Too bad the babies inside won't ever be hatching since momma was no where to be found. Most likely she was scared off by all of the activity of the morning.

Until next time . . . (and I promise it won't be too long because I actually have some stuff ready to go)

Redwoods Wrap Up

Hi everyone,

Well, this is it for the Redwoods, I believe. So many neat, neat, neat things to see on our spring break trip and I don't know that we have visited the water yet in this recap.

Heading up the bluff to the ocean . . .

And over the other side we go!

Taunting the surf!

Mom bundled up against the breeze.

Dad and I playing that this is my boat and we have to hurry up and jump on when the water comes up.

If you can see the rock in my hands you will know what I was hefting off my ship!

A cool rock that Dad found and decided to use to frame Mom.

One last toss of the buoy.

The Redwoods was a fantastic trip! I'm sure you are glad that I am done with my onslaught of pictures!

Until next time . . .

Redwoods - Part 4

Hi everyone,

Sorry it's been so long. We have had a lot going on here and updating my blog has not been high on the priority list. In fact, it's this type of thing that makes me wonder if this is coming to the end of an era. I'm torn. I guess I'll finish posting the Redwoods pictures and then decide whether or not this blog's time has come.

Anybody else ever driven through a tree? Yep, you heard that right, through.

Mom documenting our stop at Starbuck's and me wanting to pose with my new helicopter.

This is "Big Tree" - it doesn't look that much bigger than some of the other ones but it is one of the biggest ones that they have cordoned off for people to easily visit.

Our hike on the Cathedral of Trees path yielded a lot of giants. We were amazed at this huge tree that fell in the middle of two other huge trees!

One more post to wrap up the Redwoods!

Until next time . . .

Redwoods - Part 3

Hi everyone,

California, here we come. Again. More giant redwoods to make us feel like teeny, tiny ants!

How cool is this picture? No, that is not a problem with Mom's camera. That is the sun shining down on one side and the shade on the other. Mom thought at first it was an optical illusion and was amazed to see that it was not.

Love finding those little hiding places!

Who in the world is talking on their cell phone out in the woods while walking on a nature trail?

Another find little lookout. This was a burnt out tree that was still alive!

Until next time . . . (for more on the redwoods)

Tulip Tour

Hi everyone,

Every year we are so lucky to be able to go tiptoe through the tulips! Not only are we lucky to live so close to the tulip fields, but one of the local farms opens up for a free locals night. Woohoo! Tractor rides, tulips, snacks . . . what's not to love.

Yep. Spring in our area means rain, rain, and more rain!

A sea of pink tulips!

Until next time . . . (I'll pick back up on the redwoods retelling)
