Moving

Hi everyone,

Yep, we are moving. Nope, not our house, just our blog. We seem to have exceeded our photo space between this blog and our food blog so we have to move. Imagine that, exceeding your space and moving. Kinda sounds like in real life when you grow too big for your house. Not literally too big, just figuratively. At least I hope I'll never literally grow too big for my house.

Anyway, if you would like to continue the adventure with us you can find us by clicking on the link: http://placeyourbetzblog.wordpress.com/

Howling at the Moon

Hi everyone,

Wasn't my Halloween costume awesome? Wait, what? I forgot to show you my Halloween costume. Well let me get right on that.

In case you can't tell, I am a wolf! Not a dog, not a beaver, not a bear. A wolf! Owwwwwwwwww! (That's me howling at the moon, by the way.)

Dad sewed my costume for me! Isn't he awesome! It came down to the last minute to decide on what I wanted to be. At first it was a wolf. Then it was a purple wolf. Then it was a coyote. Then it was a chicken. Then it was back to a wolf. Dad went and bought my fabric and a pattern the next day and started cutting.  A day later the main part was sewed up and I was getting my first fitting. Awesome!! A nip here and a tuck there and I was set to go. I was pretty excited that I got to be a wolf and I was pretty amazed that Dad made it for me from scratch.

Sorry for the black shadow. That's somebody's finger blocking the flash. I won't mention who.

And there it is again. Someone get this person a camera with a built in flash, please!

Falling Leaves

Hi everyone,

A few weeks ago we headed over the pass to take in the changing leaves and Octoberfest in our little Bavarian village in the mountains. We were surprised to hit snow going over the pass. We had to stop, of course! A snow angel here, a snow ball there . . .

The leaves were beautiful! There were some places along the route that had more color than others, but it was so gorgeous to the see the evergreens with the smattering of deciduous trees and the snow covered mountains as a back drop.

Lots of yellows and oranges. Some bright reds here and there but the camera usually wasn't fast enough to catch them as we drove by.

Finally, we reached our destination! I only asked about a zillion times when we were going to be there in the first 45 minutes of the trip. I think Mom and Dad got pretty tired of it but I honestly had no idea where we were going and didn't know what to expect.

Pumpkin Carvin'

Hi there,

So on to the carving! I started by drawing my pumpkin's face on a sheet of paper. I then traced my design onto my pumpkin. Dad and I worked together to get the face carved. I really wanted to try to carve on my own but I just couldn't seem to get the knife moving smoothly in the pumpkin in a method that Dad was comfortable with. Dad ended up being the family carver. We all drew our faces and Dad did the actual carving. Pretty good deal, I'd say!

Even the dog is wanting to get into the carving session!

Overseeing the carving operation. I made sure to school Dad when it looked like he was cutting my mouth wrong. It turns out he was doing just fine but it was touch and go there for a minute!

Ahhh, the final results! Can you tell designed which pumpkin?

Pumpkin Pickin'

Hi everyone,

I know, I know. October has come and gone and my pumpkin post now seems past due. It's really not though because my pumpkins are still sitting on my front porch. They are rotting, but they are still sitting there!

We hopped out to the pumpkin patch this year in between rain storms and after Mom got off of work. Instead of taking a weekend day (we ended up going east of the mountains for leaves instead) we had to try to squeeze it in before dark on a school day. It worked out okay, but it sure got cold. We didn't spend a lot of time actually in the patch because no one decided to bring gloves. This year was a "get in and pick quick and get out" kind of experience.

I don't think this picture really shows my height gain in the last year. I am standing further away from the sign so it looks like I am the same height as last year. Mom and Dad can attest to the fact that I have gotten taller!

Ahhhh, this is heavy! (By the way, this is my third pumpkin to pick up. The other two I picked up and proceeded to drop on the ground so I decided not to pick those.)

Evidence that we ran out there after Mom got off of work. Skirt and tights and dress shoes and all!

Until next time . . . (when I show you what happened to our pumpkins)

Fishing Finally

Hi everyone,

Dad and I finally went fishing! Well, we've actually been fishing before but we finally went fishing on the river. You can see by my attire that it was a pretty cool day, but it was beautiful and sunny and we weren't sure how many of those days we'd have left so we thought we'd take advantage of it. We still didn't catch anything though. I guess those fish just aren't biting what we have to offer.

This is what happens when not quite 6 year olds get bored and cold while fishing.

Until next time . . .

Fall Farm Fun

Hi everyone,

Earlier this month we went on a tour of our local farms. We do this every year so I was pretty excited to go see some of the same farms again. We always go to the dairy. We saw some alpacas. We even went to the local berry farm. You can see from the pictures that pretty soon I'm not going to be able to fit in the little tractor train any more for rides. That will be a sad day.
